Privacy Policy

The Internet allows us to share a wealth of information one with another. Sharing information about the law, for example, is the primary purpose of MegaLaw.com. Unfortunately, the Internet may also be used to share personal details about individuals that they don't want everyone to know. For example, one's real name (many people on the Internet use aliases, alter egos or nicknames), street address, phone number, or e-mail address. Also, for example, when you go online, sites you visit may be gathering information about you without your knowledge.

THE MEGALAW.COM POLICY

MegaLaw.com's policy is to respect and protect the privacy of our visitors. MegaLaw.com will not willfully disclose individually identifiable information about its visitors to any third party without first receiving that visitor's permission, unless compelled by law. This policy statement tells you how we collect information from you and how we use it. Our goal is to help make your visit an informative and enjoyable experience.

MegaLaw.com shares information about our visitors with advertisers, business partners, sponsors and other third parties. However, in most cases, we talk about our visitors in aggregate, not as individuals. For example, we may say x percent of MegaLaw.com's audience uses Microsoft Internet Explorer and y percent use Netscape Navigator. This data is used to customize MegaLaw.com content and advertising for our visitors.

There are cases where MegaLaw.com may ask you for personal information such as your name or address. We do this when you register for contests/promotions or services that require registration or subscription (as required, for example, to schedule a deposition through MegaDepos.com). MegaLaw.com needs to collect this information for fulfilling prizes, tracking/verifying compliance with MegaLaw.com policies as well as federal, state and local laws and/or for editorial and feedback solicitation purposes. If and when we intend to use your personal information, we tell you up front. This way you can decide whether you want to give us the information or not. For example, we may want to post the names of contest winners on our site or send you materials via e-mail or regular mail at your request. In case you change your mind or some personal information may change (such as your address), we will endeavor to provide a way to correct, update or remove the personal data you give us.

Policies Regarding Children

MegaLaw.com encourages parents and guardians to spend time online with their children and to participate in the activities offered on the sites. No information should be submitted to or posted at MegaLaw.com by visitors under 18 years of age without the consent of their parent or guardian.

Unless otherwise disclosed during collection, MegaLaw.com does not distribute any individually personally identifying information, regardless of its source, to any third party for any purpose whatsoever. All registrants receive e-mail confirming their Registration. No information collected from guests under 18 years of age is used for any marketing or promotional purposes whatsoever, either inside or outside MegaLaw.com except as explicitly stated during registration for contests or promotions.

Although guests under 18 years of age are allowed to participate in contests and promotions, if such a guest wins, notification and prizes are sent to the parents or guardians identified in the initial registration process. Publication of contest winners names and ages for individuals under 18 require parental or guardian consent during contest registration.

Use of Cookies

Upon your first visit to MegaLaw.com, MegaLaw.com sends a "cookie" to your computer. A cookie is a file that identifies you as a unique user. It helps us identify personal preferences and user data (such as your zip code) so we may know which state law will be generally applicable to your inquiry), or enables the user to sign up for services without having to fill out the same basic forms over and over again. The MegaLaw.com site enables users to rename the site itself, and the cookie holds the name that you want to call your version of MegaLaw.com.

We find that our users appreciate the convenience of having their preferences accessible this way, but visitors to MegaLaw.com should also have the option of disabling cookies through their browser preferences, if they choose not to take advantage of these features. Most browsers are initially set up to accept cookies. You can reset your browser to refuse all cookies or indicate when a cookie is being sent. However, note that some parts of the MegaLaw.com service, including, for example, personalization features and easy sign-up for services, may not function properly if you refuse cookies.

Links to Other Sites

We use third-party advertising companies to serve ads when you visit our Website. Our third-party advertising company also separately places or recognizes a cookie file on your browser in the course of delivering advertisements to this Site. These companies may use information (not including your name, address email address or telephone number) about your visits to this and other Websites in order to provide advertisements about goods and services of interest to you. If you would like more information about this practice and to know your choices about not having this information used by these companies, please click here.

Visitors should be aware that when you are on MegaLaw.com, you could be directed to other sites that are beyond our control. There are thousands of links to other sites from MegaLaw.com pages that take you outside our service. We believe this is one of the strengths of our site. But, if you "click" on a banner advertisement or a MegaLaw.com search link, the "click" takes you off the MegaLaw.com site. This includes links from advertisers, law guide sponsors and partners that may use MegaLaw.com's logo as part of a co-branding agreement. These other sites may send their own cookies to visitors, collect data or solicit personal information. You should always be aware of where you are at any given time.

Please keep in mind that whenever you give out personal information online, for example, on message boards or e-mail, that information can be collected and used by people you don't know. While MegaLaw.com strives to protect its user's personal information and privacy, we cannot guarantee the security of any information you disclose online and you do so at your own risk.

MegaLaw.com's policy does not extend to anything that is inherent in the operation of the Internet, and therefore beyond MegaLaw.com's control, and is not to be applied in any manner contrary to applicable law or governmental regulation.

We reserve the right at our discretion to make changes to this policy at any time. Please review this page periodically for changes.
